DENTU ZONA
A CULTURAL PROJECT TO STRENGTHEN BLACK COMMUNITIES IN PORTUGAL
What's Dentu Zona?
Dentu Zona is a multifaceted project. It's what I call the space in Cova da Moura where I set up my stall on Saturdays. There you can buy Bazofo products and products made by artists from Black communities in Portugal.
I also sell literature. I have books written by anti-colonial revolutionaries, anti-racist and feminist literature, and children's literature with positive messages and Black characters.
The Dentu Zona stall is open on Saturdays at Rua Santa Filomena in Cova da Moura from 12 PM to 7 PM.

I also organize events and parties in collaboration with other people and collectives. The Dentu Zona market takes place a few times a year in Cova da Moura, for example before Christmas. The goal is to empower and showcase artists and entrepreneurs from Black communities.
In February and August we organise the Dentu Zona Carnival, a street party in Cova da Moura with music, a market, food stalls and activities for children.
The first Black Pride in Portugal, organised by the collectives The Blacker the Berry and Afrontosas in collaboration with Dentu Zona, took place in Cova da Moura in 2024.
Dentu Zona is also a space for book launches and conversations.
I also work as a DJ under the name Dentu Zona. I mainly play Cape Verdean music and reggae.
